Meet the Team

Former Leicester City club captain, Steve Walsh made 430 appearances for the club between June 1986 and September 2000 scoring 62 goals. Steve joined the club in a £100,000 deal from Wigan Athletic in 1986.

Not just content with keeping the opposition at bay, Walsh had an impressive goal scoring record for a centre-back and was occasionally deployed as a make-shift striker. Walshy famously scored both City goals in the 1994 Play-off final victory over local rivals Derby County at Wembley.

Steve guided the club to their highest ever Premiership finish of 8th in the 1999/2000 campaign. Steve Walsh was voted Leicester City’s all-time cult hero by Football Focus viewers. Walsh won with 79% of the vote, ahead of fellow Leicester favourites Steve Claridge, Gordon Banks & Frank Worthington.
